OUR STORY

CYAN KENYA is a registered youth led Community Based Organization established in February 2016 as a youth group in the western region of Kaksingri. It was formally registered in May 2019 under the ministry of Gender, Children and Social Services (Registration Number CBO/HUD/0058/2019) as a non – profitable and non – political community-based organization led by young volunteers who wanted to mitigate sexual and reproductive health challenges faced by adolescents and young people in the rural communities.
The organization operates in the rural villages of Suba South and North Sub-Counties, of Homa Bay County in Kenya. Its goal is to concentrate on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRH&R) services, and Youth Economic Empowerment geared towards addressing the unique needs of the resident youths, facilitating behavioral change and social well-being at the grassroots levels.

Objectives

  1. To promote economic development with emphasis on building a strong internal organizational structure, involving the collaboration, partnership and integration of other programs and stakeholders through synergy.
  2. To create an enabling environment for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) to help them seek justice for violations of their reproductive health and rights.
  3. To integrate and strengthen support services for the youth, in order to increase access to information and resources on adolescents’ sexual reproductive health and rights (ASRHR) and governance.
  4. To enhance youth friendly services at the community level.
  5. To encourage and help facilitate socio-economic creativity and innovative ideas and activities.

Strategic Objectives

  1. Increase the number of CYAN KENYA volunteers, staff and associates in order to strengthen the CYAN resource base to ensure program design and implementation.
  2. To integrate and strengthen capacity to support services and to increase access to information, resources, and SRHR, in order to enhance governance among the youth to ensure quality youth friendly services through research and development.
  3. To build on the organization internal structure and promote collaboration to strengthen integration and linkages with other programs through synergy. And to promote collective bargaining of young people to ensure their improved livelihood.
